When Every Second Counts Between Life and Death
DCH Regional Medical Center’s Level III Trauma Center is part of the Alabama trauma system. Our trauma center serves the citizens of West Alabama by providing excellent care to severely injured trauma patients 24 hours a day seven days a week. DCH has provided trauma services since 1990, and was designated a Level III Center in 2010. Approximately 1,500 trauma patients are treated here each year.
DCH Regional Medical Center has three trauma bays, and staffs two dedicated trauma teams each shift that are TNCC, ACLS and PALS certified. Our trauma surgeons are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week and assisted by an in-house operating team. The hospital has a 16-bed Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit for continued care, and can provide 24 hour diagnostic imaging coverage to expedite care and minimize wait time. Our trauma services staff has provided outreach education through “Stop the Bleed,” a training program designed to minimize effects of bleeding due to trauma.
Our Trauma Registry Program collects trauma data that looks at the epidemiological and demographic characteristics of trauma patients utilizing the American College of Surgeons National Trauma Data.
