Pathology
The first step in cancer care is making an accurate diagnosis. Our board-certified pathologists offer diagnoses of malignant diseases within 24 hours of a biopsy. The surgical pathology report also helps to determine the best course of treatment.
Rehabilitation Services
DCH Rehabilitation Services works with the Manderson Cancer Center to return individuals to their status before cancer, or assist the patient with adaptation to any functional disability. Located at both the DCH Regional Medical Center and Northport Medical Center campuses, DCH Rehabilitation Services offers patients a wide range of services including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech and hearing in the inpatient, acute care, home health or outpatient environments. We also offer a specialized lymphedema program for patients experiencing problems with edema and pain following surgery. These services offer many of our patients the ability to perform daily living tasks with or without assistance, and the joy of regaining as much of their independence as possible.
Surgical Services
With more than 60 surgeons in multiple specialties on staff, DCH Regional Medical Center contributes greatly to patient care with services ranging from diagnosis to resection of the diseased tissue. A variety of supportive treatment and reconstructive options are also available, and a convenient, same-day surgery unit is on site.
Wound Care
The Enterostomal Therapy Department at DCH Regional Medical Center was established in the early 1980s. Several of our registered nurses have specialized training in the care of patients with skin, ostomy, wound and incontinence care needs. Because cancer can affect every body system, these professionals are frequently called upon to assist with the care of patients with cancer.
