We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kennedy Emekam as DCH’s new System Director of Health Information Management (HIM). With over 15 years of experience in Health Information Management, Emekam brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the DCH Health System.
“Emekam will oversee Health Information Management (HIM) operations across our system, ensuring compliance, optimizing workflows, and fostering collaboration across departments,” said Bob Tracz, Chief Financial Officer. “Emekam has a passion for patient care that aligns perfectly with DCH’s mission to provide high-quality healthcare to our community.” He will also serve on DCH’s Revenue Cycle governance committee due to the importance of HIM’s role in the billing process.
Throughout his career, Emekam has successfully led HIM teams and implemented performance-driven initiatives. Most recently, he served as Director of Coding and Health Information Management at University of Louisville Health, where he directed HIM operations, improved documentation standards, and spearheaded system advancements.
Emekam holds a Master of Science in Health Informatics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Macon State College. Additionally, he is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), and Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP).
