Congratulations to DCH's latest BEE Award Winner, Fannie Cottrell (RMC Environmental Services)
Here is what a co-worker wrote about Fannie:
"I have tried for several weeks to think of one specific situation. I decided it would be impossible. Mrs. Fannie doesn't make a difference on a one-time basis. If she is here, she makes a difference-- in my life, our unit's success, and patients and families' lives. We both work the 3-11 shift in OPC. There are sometimes as few as two employees on Post-Surgical Unit on this shift, since our unit is the only one in OPC that admits patients overnight after surgery. Mrs. Fannie cleans the whole halls and bathrooms and lobby of our floor. She is everywhere. MANY times she has been asked for help in directing family members. She is never too busy to help them...sometimes walking them to our desk or even directly to me. She has had doctors ask her where the staff is and she again comes directly to me. She truly does not have extra time to do this. She knows AND cares-rare indeed. On days that we call the merry-go-round, she has rooms needing to be cleaned all down the hall. I hear NO complaints from her. I hear humming. I see smiling. And I realize what a rare jewel she is. There are other reasons......like our trash never overflows at the nurses’ station or nurse’s bathroom when Mrs. Fannie is here. Our beds never lack a pink under pad or a fitted sheet when Mrs. Fannie is here. Even the paper towels are always replaced at the desk and bathroom when Mrs. Fannie is here. I have NEVER been fussed at by Mrs. Fannie if I make an additional mess. Mrs. Fannie works circles around me. No one person I know is more deserving!"
BEE stands for Being Exceptional Everyday. This award recognizes extraordinary service from our non-nursing staff. Any employee from any department (except RNs) can be nominated for the BEE Award. RNs are recognized for exceptional service with The DAISY Award.
BEE Award nominations will be accepted from patients, patients’ family members, physicians, DCH employees and volunteers. If you’ve experienced or witnessed extraordinary service from a DCH team member, then nominate that person for the BEE Award.
Clear display boxes, which include printed nomination forms, are located throughout DCH hospitals for both the BEE Award and The DAISY Award. Click here to use the electronic forms.
