BEE Award Goes to Margie Hamner

Congratulations to Margie Hamner, Patient and Guest Services Specialist, Guest Services, for being named as one of November's BEE Award recipients. 

Margie was nominated by the daughter of a patient.  The nomination read:  My mother has been in DCH for 6 weeks, and every day that I have visited her and Margie was working always made my visits more welcoming. The pride she takes in her work is amazing. She doesn’t just look and greet people with an automated good morning. Just in these 6 weeks, she now feels like family to me. She asks about my day, asks about my mom and she has godly words of inspiration that many of us need to hear. With her, it’s no longer a good morning, it’s a hug, a shoulder to lean on and a listening ear. When I did have a problem, I discussed it with her and she sent me to the exact people I needed to talk to. Thanks to her, just in the last 2 weeks, the process for my mother’s insurance as not only been started, but I now know of different avenues and help she can receive. All of this is because Margie goes above and beyond. She is the definition of not bringing home to work because if she has a bad day, I have yet to see it. It doesn’t matter if there are 15-20 people standing at that desk she acknowledges every single one of them. Everyone should strive for her positive attitude and joy because it lifts spirits when we need them the most.

BEE stands for Being Exceptional Everyday. This award recognizes extraordinary service from our non-nursing staff. Any employee from any department (except RNs) can be nominated for the BEE Award. RNs are recognized for exceptional service with The DAISY Award.

BEE Award nominations will be accepted from patients, patients’ family members, physicians, DCH employees and volunteers. If you’ve experienced or witnessed extraordinary service from a DCH team member, then nominate that person for the BEE Award.
