We are proud to announce that Dawn Alexander, our Chief Nursing Officer at DCH Health System, has been recognized as one of Becker's CNOs to Know. This prestigious acknowledgment highlights her exceptional leadership and commitment to healthcare excellence.
As the CNO of DCH Health System, which encompasses three campuses and operates a 787-bed nonprofit hospital, Dawn oversees a dedicated team of over 1,200 staff members and manages a budget exceeding $125 million. Her leadership spans critical departments including the ICU, NICU, and emergency services.
Dawn's impact on our organization is profound. As DCH's first African American female executive in our 100-year history, she brings more than 35 years of experience to her role. Under her guidance, we have successfully reduced nurse-to-patient ratios, improved RN turnover rates, and significantly enhanced employee engagement and patient experience. Additionally, she launched DCH's inaugural community health fair, which serves over 800 attendees annually, reflecting her commitment to community wellness.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to nursing, Dawn was recently honored with the University of Alabama's "Janet Awtrey Leadership Award." This accolade is a testament to her dedication to fostering nursing excellence and inspiring those around her.
Congratulations, Dawn, on this well-deserved recognition! Your leadership continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and staff.
