BEE Award Goes to Ken Hanby

BEE Award Goes to Ken Hanby

Congratulations Ken Hanby, one of our recent BEE Award winners. Ken, a longtime DCH employee with more than 30 years of service, works in the outpatient pharmacy in the DCH Medical Tower. He was nominated by employees of one of the physician offices located in the tower who wanted to recognize his “sincere care and outstanding patient assistance.”

When one of their [the physician’s office] patients was confused about where to go, Ken stepped away from his role in the pharmacy to assist this patient in finding where they needed to go. He went even further than necessary when he left his contact information in case the patient needed assistance once the appointment was over. Ken wanted to make sure the patient could find their way back to where they had parked. When the patient took him up on the offer, “Ken did not hesitate, he immediately came back with a wheelchair to escort the patient.”

BEE stands for Being Exceptional Everyday. This award recognizes extraordinary service from our non-nursing staff. Any employee from any department (except RNs) can be nominated for the BEE Award. RNs are recognized for exceptional service with The DAISY Award.

BEE Award nominations will be accepted from patients, patients’ family members, physicians, DCH employees and volunteers. If you’ve experienced or witnessed extraordinary service from a DCH team member, then nominate that person for the BEE Award.

Clear display boxes, which include printed nomination forms, are located throughout DCH hospitals for both the BEE Award and The DAISY Award. Click here to use the electronic forms.
