DCH Regional Medical Center and Northport Medical Center received high marks for patient safety and quality in its latest review. All three DCH hospitals received a "B" grade from Leapfrog in its fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grade Report.
Leapfrog grades hospitals on 22 evidence-based safety measures. Some of them are:
- Infections
- Problems with surgery
- Safety issues
- Leadership
- Practices to prevent errors
- Number, quality and satisfaction with doctors, nurses and hospital staff
This is voluntary survey compiled by Leapfrog. Nearly 3,000 hospitals across the country participated. The Leapfrog Group calculates a numerical score for all eligible hospitals in the U.S.
Just three years ago, DCH’s facilities received a "D" grade. Our latest grade of "B" reflects a continuous focus on improvements in quality and patient safety measures over the past few years. Hospitals are issued a Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade twice per year.
