DCH Welcomes New Lab Director
Eric Stanford, D. HSc, has joined DCH as the director of Laboratory. He will oversee laboratory functions at both DCH Regional Medical Center and Northport Medical Center.
Stanford comes to DCH from Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was operations manager of the Core Laboratory and Emergency Department laboratories. He helped support diagnostic testing in the main VUMC Laboratory and also provided cross-support for regional hospital and satellite laboratories across Tennessee.
“Eric has an extensive background in day-to-day lab operations,” said Mallary Myers, senior vice president and chief operating officer. “With this deep experience and transformative leadership style, I’m confident he will be a great asset to DCH.”
Stanford earned a doctor of health science degree with a concentration in health care and hospital administration from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He completed a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, he holds several bachelor’s degrees from Auburn University in biology, medical technology and laboratory technology.
He has been published in several professional publications such as The Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine and has participated on various committees of the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute.
