DCH Employee to Receive Emerging Leader Award from UWA

Frederica McKinney, clinical informaticist specialist at DCH, will be presented the Emerging Leader Award during the UWA Alumni Awards ceremony on April 2.

McKinney is being honored as one of the University of West Alabama’s 2024 recipients of the Emerging Leader Award for Nursing. The award recognizes unwavering dedication, tireless efforts and the profound impact one has made within their chosen field.

The award was established in 2012 to recognize graduates from each college or division who show promise for success and leadership.

McKinney is a 2013 graduate of UWA’s Ira D. Pruitt Division of Nursing. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Alabama and a master’s degree in nursing with a focus in health care informatics and nursing leadership from Troy University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in nursing with a focus in nursing leadership from Troy University.
