101 and Having Fun!

The 1920s brought dramatic changes including Prohibition and individuals or families starting to own cars, radios and telephones for the first time. Into that time of change was born Annie Lowery.

Now a resident at Fayette Medical Center’s Long Term Care facility, Lowery turned 101 on April 2. The Fayette Medical Center LTC staff decorated her room and planned a big day for her. Activities included a visit to the LTC beauty shop, receiving gifts including an Easter basket from personal aids, and a visit from her daughters.

Lowery, a former pianist, loves classical music and church hymns.

“We are so glad Annie is here, and we could celebrate this special day with her,” said Theresa Dumpson, activities coordinator for LTC. “She’s a part of our family, and we want to make her day as special as possible.”

COVID-19 Information

To protect patient privacy, DCH has established a minimum threshold of five for reporting numbers of inpatients with laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19.

DCH Health System internal counts as of 3:01 p.m. on 4/8/21:

• Five or fewer inpatients within the DCH system who are positive for COVID-19.
• Five or fewer inpatients who are positive for COVID-19 are being treated in the ICU.
• Five or fewer inpatients who are positive for COVID-19 are on ventilators.
• Five or fewer who are positive for COVID-19 are on a BiPAP.
• 8,613 (cumulative) unique positives for COVID-19 tests including results from the ED, triage tent and inpatient. These individuals are not necessarily in the hospital.
• 40,459 (cumulative) unique negatives for COVID-19 at DCH sites.
• 10,412 (cumulative) positive COVID-19 at DCH sites. These individuals are not necessarily in the hospital.
• 75,968 (cumulative) negative tests at DCH sites.
• 3,025 inpatients (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have been discharged.
• 545 inpatients (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have died at DCH. This is not an indication of the cause of death, only that the individuals were positive for COVID-19 at the time of death.
• 303 Tuscaloosa County residents (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have died (per the Alabama Department of Public Health).
