Parade for Fayette Long Term Care Residents

DCH’s Fayette Medical Center is home to a Long Term Care facility. Very early on, leadership at Fayette’s LTC decided to close the doors to visitors in an effort to protect the residents. The strategy seems to have worked as so far none of the residents or staff have tested positive for COVID-19. However, this means the residents haven’t been able to see their friends and families.
Today, the LTC facility hosted a drive-through parade. Residents sat up near windows, and family, friends and employees drove by (some in decorated cars) honking and waving.
Nearly 80 vehicles participated in the parade, which included local government officials. “We had a huge turnout. It was a tremendous success,” said Theresa Dumpson, activity coordinator for the facility. Below are photos from the event.
