Testing and Confirmed Cases
To protect patient privacy, DCH has established a minimum threshold of five for reporting numbers of inpatients with laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19.
DCH internal counts as of 3:20 p.m. on 6/29/20:
47 inpatients are being treated for COVID-19.
17 inpatients who are positive for COVID-19 are being treated in the ICU.
Six who are positive for COVID-19 are on ventilators.
1,228 (cumulative) unique positives for COVID-19 tests including results from the ED, triage tent and inpatient. These individuals are not necessarily in the hospital.
10,316 (cumulative) unique negatives for COVID-19 at DCH sites.
1,560 (cumulative) positive COVID-19 at DCH sites. These individuals are not necessarily in the hospital.
12,056 (cumulative) negative tests at DCH sites.
293 inpatients (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have been discharged.
68 inpatients (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have died at DCH. This is not an indication of the cause of death, only that the individuals were positive for COVID-19 at the time of death.
36 Tuscaloosa County residents (cumulative) who were positive for COVID-19 have died (per the Alabama Department of Public Health).
Also included is a chart showing the percent positive among those tested at DCH locations. This chart reflects totals by the end of each day (except today).
Trend over Time
Also included are two previously shown charts showing the COVID-19 trend overtime at DCH. These are being provided today as an update on how things have progressed.
The COVID-19 Inpatient Trend shows the total number of COVID-19 positive inpatients as well as those in the ICU. Combined it gives a sense of both the total volume and the acuity.
The Percent Positive of Inpatients Tested gives a daily snapshot (green bar), 7-day running (red), and 14-day running percent of inpatients who have tested positive.
Both sets of charts have started to show a slight downward slope at the moment but this has happened in short bursts in the past. Please continue to be careful and wear a mask in public.
