Manderson Cancer Center Recertified by American Society of Clinical Oncology
The Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center has received reaccreditation by the QOPI Certification Program (QCP™), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
The QOPI Certification Program provides a three-year certification for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that meet nationally recognized standards for quality cancer care.
In applying for recertification, the Manderson Cancer Center participated in a comprehensive site assessment against standards that are consistent with national guidelines.
“ASCO’s QOPI certification recognizes those oncology practices that are committed to delivering the highest quality of cancer care,” said ASCO President Bruce E. Johnson, MD, FASCO. “By achieving recertification, these practices have demonstrated their commitment to quality and safety excellence in the care they deliver to patients, as well as to the continuous process of quality improvement.”
To become recertified, the Manderson Cancer Center had to submit to an evaluation of its entire practice and documentation standards. It had to meet core standards in these treatment areas:
- Treatment planning
- Staff training and education
- Chemotherapy orders and drug preparation
- Patient consent and education
- Safe chemotherapy administration
- Monitoring and assessment of patient well-being.
