West Alabama Students Receive $18,000 in DCH Health System Scholarships
The DCH Foundation recently awarded $18,000 in DCH Health System scholarships to area students pursuing careers in health care.
Baily Frederick received the Margaret Deal Healthcare Mentor Scholarship. The scholarship is named in honor of a retired nursing educator and hospice nurse.
Gailbriel Moorer received the Peggy Simpson Ford Scholarship. Mrs. Ford is a retired teacher and widow of James H. Ford Jr., former CEO of the DCH Health System.
Shelby Bradford received the Benjamin Louis Ladner Capstone College of Nursing Memorial Scholarship. Ladner was a nurse at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Ebony Pickens received the Hillcrest Adopt-A-School Scholarship. Hillcrest High School and DCH Regional Medical Center are Adopt-A-School partners.
Jacob Hinton received the DCH Volunteer Auxiliary – Lucy Jordan Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a high school senior who has participated in the DCH Junior Volunteer program with 200 or more donated hours. Mrs. Jordan directed the DCH volunteer program for many years.
Jenerio Griffin received the DCH Volunteer Auxiliary - Sarajane and Don Pugh Scholarship, which is awarded to a DCH employee who goes back to school to for a degree in a health-related field. The Pugh’s are long-time volunteers at DCH.
DCH Volunteer Auxiliary DCH Family Scholarships were awarded to Mason Mitchell and Kelsey Wyatt. DCH Volunteer Auxiliary Scholarships went to Emily Beach, Madison Clary, Michael Ferguson, Cayla Gilliland, Taylor Harless and Brylan McFerrin.
